Lust week our friend Mr. Nel

for one day, so Mr. Newman re

for market brought them to the
city and dis{>osed of them for the
comfortable sum of $13.75. When
last seen lie. was homeward

to a quick eye and a steady arm.
A Wild Cat Knee.
A considerable party of our
Nimrods, with a numerous pack
of dog? went on a wild cat hunt.
The dogs soon had a feline on the
run, and a lively ruce ensued.
It lasted several hours, and only
three dogs lasted to the tiuish.
The names of the parties who
participated in the hunt have
not been handed us, but among
them were: Messrs. Geo. T.
Little. John Win taker, Will
Salraoud, D. Witherspoon and
many others.
About Cotton
During: the recent meeting of
our State Executive Committee
on Feb. 5th., our committee was
agreeably surprised to receive a
cull from a gentleman from Eu
rope who is connected with
prominent cotton manufacturers
of that country who desired a
conference with our State Com
mittee on a proposition to buy
cotton .directly from our organi
station for his cotton munufuc
turing associates and ship direct
from the producer to the cotton
spinners of Europe.
In his discussion of his propo
sition and the importance of bet
ter care in ginning, baling and
grading of our cotton our com
mittee wtis favorably impressed
with the thorough knowledge of
the classification and uses made
of different grudes and where to
place the different grades as set
forth by this gentleman, who it
seems is here for business and
hat been educated in his work,
having hud many years experi
ence in practical work for Euro
|M*un Spin ers. lint us the com
mittee had asneinbled for the
purpose of considering matters
of vital interest on the lino of
organization, this cotton busi
ness will bo taken up at a future
couucil meeting of the union.
