of the country voters who may

placed at the Camden voting
precinct. The citizens are re
spectfully .requested to call the
attention of all countrymen whom
they may happen to meet today
to this fact. This will tend to
swell what wo fear will be a
rather small vote.
Everybody should make it a
point to vote, but a great many
are not going to take advantage
of the privilege.

The tremendous rain, wind
and electric storm of last Thurs
day night came as quite u sur
prise to a great many people. It
was perfectly natural though
that we should have had it, as it
followed a very warm day, the
thermometer registering up in
the 80s.
Tackey Party.
The Tackey Party ou skates,
given at the skating rink on last
Friday night was a very suc
cessful affair, aud was hugely
enjoyed by the participants. The
first prize for lady tackey was
won by Miss Betsey Boylcin, and
that for gentlemen by Mr. Wal
ter Sell rock. The prizes were a
tine pair of roller skates to each
of the winners.

selves under the necessity of

us a little on account, to bring
or send us some money. The

(from January to April) when an
editor's expenses are heaviest,

Kershaw, County.
In accordance with the above Proc
lamation by the Governor, notice is
hereby Riven that an election will be
liejd at the voting precincts prescribed
by law in Kershaw County on Tues
day, April 2nd, 11)07, for Judge of
Probate, to serve the remainder of the
term for which the late J. 1!. Phelps
was elected.
Before the hour fixed for opening
the polls Managers and Clerks must
take and subscribe the Constitutional
oath. The Chairman of the Board of
Managers can administer the oath to
the other members and to the Clerk ; a
Notary Public must administer the
oath to the Cnairman, The managers
elect their Chairman and Clerk.
Polls at each voting place must be
opened at 7 o'clock a. in., and closed
at 4 o'clock p. m*
The Managers have the power to fill
a vacancy and if none of the managers
attend, the citizens can appoint Irom
among the qualified voters, the Mana
gers who after being sworn, can con
duct the election.
At the close of the election, the
Managers and Clerk must proceed pub
licly to open the ballot boxew and
count the ballots therein, and con
tinue without adjournment until the
same is completed, and make a state
ment of the result and sign the same.
Within three days thereafter, the
Chairman of the Board, or some one
designated by the" Board, must de
liver to the C-HiimisPioners of Election
the poll list, the boxes containing the
ballots and written statements of the
results of the election.
