Glenn of West Wateree on Friday, the 1st inst. He was 88 years old, and his death was caused solely by decay of* vital power. His loss will oe sensibly felt In the locali ty in which he lived. ? ? An unconfirmed rumor has reached us of the death at Thomasville, N. C., of Mrs. E. Scott Brown, formerly of this city, and who expected with his wife, to return to lis this fall. Should the rumor be true, we experience personal regret, and extend sympathy to Mr. Brown. ? General J. W. Floyd of Liberty Hill, was in the city on Thursday. He was, if anything, livelier than ever, and is be ginning to talk coming politics. Look out somebody. We regret that it is our duty to record the death of Mrs. J. j. Bell of West Wateree. Con sumption, that dread and incur able disease cut short a life that was just blooming into the full ness of bright womanhood. With everything to live for, with a loving husband, devoted children, and attached step-chil dren, and other relatives to make life attractive, God has seen tit to call her to Himself. Zemp & Del'sss. Dispensary Election. The county dispensary board met on Friday to elect a dis penser at Catudeu, and, one for Kershaw. The matter of elect ing the Camdeu dispenser was a small one, Mr. H. L. Watkins ob taining the place without any trouble. The Korsliaw business however, was an entirely dif ferent tiling. We understand that several lawyers were pres ent urging various reasons why no election should be held, chief of which was that no petition had Dee 11 presented to the board, oeariug a requisite number of signatures of qualified electors. After hearing the arguments on both sides, the board, very pro perly we think, postponed ac tion until a day this week in or der that the petition asking,! for the dispensary can be veri tied as whether or not it is a valid document. There is much bitterness of feeling in the Ker shaw section over the matter, but we hope everything will work out smoothly. Notice.
