AT PERRY.
Aiken, Dec. 19.?Details of the
idli ng of Mrs. Henry K Smiley at
t/erry reached Aiken today. Mrs,
> ? dley was killed by the discharge
, of a gun in the hands of her husband,
and, according to the verdict
of a jury of inquest, it was accident*
J. No steps have been taken to
incriminate Mr. Salley, and so far
as known then1 will H<? nr>n#?
Mr. Salley was preparing to go
on a hunting trip. He was cleaning
his gun, when, on unbreaching it
the cap of a cartridge in the gun in
omc way caught against the plunger,
causing it to discharger Mrs.
Salley was standing in the room,
and the load struck her in the sidf,
;au9?ng death a short time after.
Mr. Salley is marshal at PerTy.
He and his wife are said to have
been exceptionally affectionate, and
t ;e husband, it is said, is now in
latiger of losing his mind as a result
of the deplorable death of his
wife.
