How about "Midland" County?
.When you pay your taxes ycu
look for benefits. , Ate you getting
them as premised?
^ ./Don't be afraid to express your
self about the new county project.
This is a free country but not a free
county as it now exists.
: ' i L t
GET TOGETHER
Would it not be a good plan tot
all those interested in the formatioi
ot a new county to get together anc
discuss the matter from a business
standpoint?
Let's have a citizens meeting oi
the b'l^ine .s men of Leesville and
Btresburg and take definite steps
iev county matter. Now
is me time to act, not at some future
time, but now?right now and
the sooner the better.
OUR NEW COUNTY
We are gtad to rote the inte-e"
that our editorial week before las1
created on a new county movement
We have had number of 'ette.
and comments made upon tne sub
ject and in some instances gentle
men have visited Batesburg and th<
Advocate office specifically for tht
purpose of urging the furtherance
of the movement.
Various conjectures have beer
made as to the constitutional rights
f Saluda county allowing anything
taken from her territory, but we
have been informed by unquestioned
authority that at least forty square
miles can be adopted for the proposed
county of "Midland" whirh
by the way would draw the county
line along the banks of big Saluda
river and thereby decrease the territory
necessary to be taken from
Aiken and Lexington counties.
This would also make either Batesburg
or Leesville more central and
more accessible from all parts of
. the proposed county. Why send
our money a distaace of twenty
j^^kfc^niles cr more to build roads and
tf|j$|^Knake improvements that we never
B||K get any benefit from?
Would it not be far better to keep
our taxable property intact where
B Where we can get the returns for the
p tax money we pay out? To be
sore it would and there is but little
doubt if our people get together and
work for the ultimate result it will
come and th?t too with less effort
tthau is looked for at this time.

"Oh, drink up, old man," said he.
"for old time's sake, and have a fresh

I Claffy, without noticing the reddish
color of his beer, raised the glass to his

"The terrors of tin- deep," remarked
