Picnic At linrtoii's Pond.
On last Thursday Burton's pond
was the scene f gayety. Quite a large
crowd of young people gathered early
in the morning a.-.d remained until
late. During the day some took themselves
to the shade of friendly .oaks,
while others had resort to the pavilion
which had hcen erected for the occasion,
and then "'lipped the light
fantastic to?"to the music of a Columbia
orchestra. Cupid with his ever
ready bow and arrow was upon
the scene and it his been whispered
that he sent many of his darts with
in erring aim and as a consequence
?omc did seek I te hanks of the near
l?y creek, where the beautiful rippling
waters lent enchantment and Inspiration
to the otherwise sentimen'al feeing
which pervaded the heart. And
his might have been because there
was at Barton's pond some as pretty
women as the State can boast.
Such a pleasant time being antiei*
cited, two of the young men of Baleshi
