Prof. Itichard Watson has endeared
himself to our entire people during
his stay among us. We will hereafter
number him among our boys, and
he will always lind friends and a cordial
greeting in Bate.-burg. Richard
has decided to cease teaching the
young idea how- to shoot and delve in
search of legal lore. May his highest
hopes be realized; and we trust at
some day we shall be able to greet him
as Judge Watson. When we get to be
a Court house town, we hope to have
him throw his shingle out on our
streets. Long life and happiness to
Itichard Watson.
Only a few more days and all of our
sweet college girls and gallant college
boys, will be home for vacation. We
shall be glad to see them, one and all.
Though they have wandered far from
us, we believe they wi II be glad to get
back once more to old Batesburg?the
best and sweetest place 011 this green
earth. Some of them will graduate;
among the number will be, George
Bates at Wofford, Misses Mary Cooner
and Aileen Cnllum, at Greenville College
for women. Miss Mattie Crouch
at Wintlirop, Miss Eva Padgett (while
not of our town, st'll she is one of our
old scholars, and we feel interested in
her) will finish at G. F. College, and
Miss Maude Kernaghan at the Columbia
Female College. They will add
much to the life of our town. In advance,
