The veterans of oor State gathered
together and enjoyed u royal good time
in the delightful capital eity. The
city was gayly decorated through out
and the citizens of Columbia did the r
utmost to make the occasion, oue wotthy
of the venerated heroes of the lost
cause and nobly did they succeed. Tlir
meetings were held in the big new theatre
and great were the crowds at every
meeting. The city, the visitors and
the guests all seemed to catch the inspiration

lias endeared our capital city to
tlie hearts of a countless number of
Carolina's citizens. It can be truthfully
said that Columbia proved herself
equal to every demand. Great ik
Coluubiu!!
The idea has been suggested that
Columbia should have an annual festival.
We have often wondered why
this idea has never taken hold of the
Columbia merchants. The position
and facilities of Columbia as a trade
ceutreare unequaled. What
friendtoday
is for the
pjople of the d ifTerer. I sect ions to know
of the advantages she has. Once l?t
the people get to going to Columbia
and her merchants will prosper as th?
green bay tree. In 110 way can this be
forgot about, so well ns a sj ring festi- 1
val. The annual State Fair, as a source
of remuneration is wel' known to all.

musical Festival as a leader, thousands *
could be attracted thither. If Coluni- .
