Y. M. C. A. TO BE
CARRIED TO IU KAL DISTRICTS
Columbia. Sept. 29.?A chairman is
being named for each county in the
aproaching Y. M. C. A. campaign for
funds and machinery being set up for
the canvass. The campaign will be
conducted from Oct. 20-30 and reports
irom all over the state convince officials
here that every county in the
state "will go over the toi>.
The Y. M. C- A. is working with the
view of perfecting an organization ir
each county and ultimately having t
county secretary in each county.

work and betterment of community
life the recent announcement of the Y
m. C. A. with regard to its policy oi
establishing rural ""Y's" in the countrj
will come as a message of good cheei
and thanksgiving. It is now proposec
to place a Y. 31. C. A. man in cver>
rural section where the people wil
consent to support the movement b\
financial contributions, moral backing
and enthusiastic attendance. In th(
proposed organization the unit wil
be the county, a group of citizen;
constitute a committee to serve as directors
and have authority to engage
the services of a county secretary, whe
wrill have complete charge of the program
of activities and will be the organizer
and promoter of the movement
throughout his given county, de
voting- his entire time to the "Y" work
Local organizafion or the county "Y"
will be formed in townships possible
or in districts cf the county, and bands

of workers will be scattered here anc
there over the rural county, thus directly
contributing to the moral, the
social, the recreational and phj'sica'
life of the several communitiet
throughout the country.
Activities of the rural "Y"- will cmbrace
a program providing for attcntion
to matters affecting public hcaltland
rural sanitation, recreational arfairs,
athletic events, educationa
needs, public libraries, extension lecSu
tures, Bible classes, reading circles
debating clubs, and other progressive
movements that go toward making the
rural county and its people bigger,
better, broader, healthier and more
righteous and service-giving will be
heartily supported by the new country
