Efird, county chairman, for the purpose of appointing managers and transacting other business in connection with the forthcoming primary election to nominate a successor to Hon. A. F. Lever, resigned. Under the provisions of the act ' it passed at the last session of the legislature the provisions of the Australian ballot were extended to the rural , districts, and it will be necessary to ""provide booths for every precinct which at the last election polled 50 or more votes. The election will be held on Tuesday, the 26th of August. The entries ;closed Monday, with the nnai nst 01 | candidates as. follows: # George Bell Timmerman, Lexington. Colin S. Monteith, Columbia. John Hughes Cooper, Columbia. ? H. P. Fulmer, Orangeburg. Ed. C. Mann. Calhoun. John T. Duncan, Columbia. . In the event of the necessity of a second primary it will be held September 9. / The general election will be held October 7. Cole D. Blease has announced his intention of being a candidate in the general election. Judge Efird urges all Democrats to be sure that they are provided with registartion certificates for the general election. Under the law it is necessary that registration certificates should bear a date subsequent to July 1, 1918, as the law required a registration of all voters after that date. Registration certificates which were valid in the last general election will ho.ld good for a period of ten ye'rs. For the convenience of all who desire to provide themselves with registration certificates, the county board of registration has arranged an itin erary to cover all pats of the county. -On the first Monday in October the books "will be open ot the court house.
