Litle Miss Louise James, who has
been spending some time with her
aunt, Mrs. G. F. Roberts, returned
to Easteover last week.
The many friends of Mrs. C. M.
Bouknight of the Hebron section,!1
will regret to learn of her illness and
will wish for her a speedy restoration.
The bright little year-old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Backman of near
Sunny South, is- desperately ill with
coalitis.
Mr. Bennie R. Harman attended the
^ funeral and burial of the late Rev.
G. Farr at Union last Saturday, making
the trip by motor.

Bouknight having come over to consult
her physician, Dr. J. H. Mathias,
Hon. G. B. Wingard left yesterday
for Rockingham County, Virginia,
where he goes as the representative of
Zion Lutheran ^Pastorate to the General
Synod of the Lutheran church.
We are informed by the Secretary j
that the County Medical Society will
hold its next meeting which is their
annual meeting in Leesville the third
of October and.a good meeting is expected.
Mr. C. D. Kaiser, a clever
young farmer of the Gilbert
section, was in town Monday,
and reported the appearance of

Messrs. W. B. Thomasson, of Jackson,
Mich; Bill Atkinson, Waynesboro,

in their big Marion-Hadley touring

The city examining board of Columbia
completed the work of examining
150 men recently, drafted Saturday.
The board accepted on phys.
ical qualifications 97 and rejected 2<\

dead, six postponed, five transferred

The many friends of Mr. Haskell
Wessinger will be glad to know that
he is able to be around the house,
after having been confined to the
bed with typhoid fever for a month ot
six weeks, and will soon be dismissed
by Dr. J. H. Mathias. His sister, Miss
Sallie, has already been dismissed.
Dr. James W. Kilgo, presiding elder,
will be in Lexington next Friday
morning to hold a special conference
with the board of stewards of the
Lexington circuit, at eleven o'clock.
This meeting is occasioned by the
death of the Rev. John G. Farr.
