An effort is being made In' some youths j

Mr. Roberts lias removed his grocery

who will erect a handsome building on
the lot the. first story being a store-room
with rooms for house-keeping overhead.
The town of Beaufort paid $200 for a j

On Monday last the quiet of Blnffton
was disturbed by a cry oV murder and a
crowd at once gathered, when it wa
fouud that Ben. Simmons a late uicm

melee with a boy name Manning Fields
The wounds, three in number, were considered
duugerous although not necessarily
fatal. Fields was arrestel and bound

hunting bail and went to Savauouh.

We arc pained to announce the death of
Mr. George Brodie, which occurred
at the residence of his brother John, in
this place, on Tuesday evening last alter
a very painful illness of several weeks.
Mr. Brodie was a young man twenty two
years of age, a native of Brooklyn, X. Y.,
and a printer, having learned the art in the
office of the old RepMic m. The funeral
services were held in the Episcopal
Church and were largely attended.
Before his flight Mr. Gleavcs executed
a deed to the towu of the lot which council
voted to purchase of hiui for 8125, but
the money has not yet been paid and
should not be as the lot is too far out of
the way for an engine house and not
worth the uioncv even if the deed was
