Phosphatic.?Some gentlemen in Augusta
who are heavy dealers in phosphates
have been in town looking for a
desirable site to establish a manufactory
for fertilizers, and we understand they
have about concluded to build their works
on the bluff between Beaufort and the
Atlantic Saw Mills. On Saturday last
Messrs W. F. Herring, of Augusta, and
Chas. Richardson and Francis N. Beck,
of Wilmington, the gentlemen referred
to, took a trip on the Falcon to the yards
of the Coosaw Mining Co.^ to see the
management of these extensive works.
Mr. Lopez took especial pains to enable
the party to see everything of interest aud
they were delighted with their trip, and
may in the projected manufactory make
use of the rock mined in Coosuw for the
manufacture of fertilizers, thus using at
home what is now shipped North lor its

adding a useless freight both ways to the
cost.
