ting, money wasting members, have no ob

tion? If not, can the commandments of
men, make It so? If not of divine obligation

If it be of divine obligation, it must be so,

or his apostles. Now, Christ never thought
of, never contemplated, never observed,
never ordained our Sunday as the Sabbath.
If he did, let those who make the assertion
prove it, if they can. They cannot. Christ
kept the Jewish Sabbath: he was a Jew; he
conformed to the Sabbath as a Jewish right,
although he claimed authority to abolish it,
if he chose: "is not the son of Man, Lord

meeting where they enumerated the obscr

left out the observance of the Sabbath, and

member that thou keep holy the Sabbath
day,** is a divine command, and we are alto
commanded not to permit the ox, nor the
ass, nor the cattle, nor the stranger to work
on that day. Surely then it 1* a direfet in
fringement ot the liw of Clod to ride to
church, and it ought to be prevented. Con
gress having the jwwer to regulate and pro
vide for the general welfare,, can surely put
a stop to that detestable custom.
Ought it not to be made a question among
true chriktinns, whether they should dress
themselves on the Sabbath? "In it thou
shalt do no manner of work, thou, nor thy
sons, nor thy daughters, thy man servants,
nor thy maid servants." It is also implied
in this command that the houses ought not
to be swept, nor the beds made up. If no
dressing was carricd on, if every one on that
day appeared in a state of nudity, hall of
the heart bumingsthat exist in the congrega
tions would be stopt. Miss Flariet, would he

Some plan ought to be adopted to stop
the revolution of the earth, and suit, for

appear religious, and be made to act as the

derstand what it means, or believe it to be

subjects when next ho considers the expe
diency, of allowing rest to those knights of
the whip, nnd the poor unfortunate horses,
