section ot the country so infatuated as to hold
such language. Scarcely would thin union

talk of disunion and spending thrir money in
London instead of Saratoga! They had first
best pay their debts in Wall-street. We
wonder if their plains anil their negroes
would sell for enough at auction to satisfy
their creditor* In New York, whom they
boast of feeding ami supporting? The propo
sition so gravely made in the paragraph be
low, to change the tide of southern travel
from Saratoga across the Atlantic, is suffi
ciently anti-American to claim rank with
other South Carolina prta'ccding*, and to jus
tify a suspicion that it owes its origin to a
ccrtain Englishman, Dr. Cooper, who pre
sides over a eollcge in the placc where the
article was published.

or Paris? The journey can be performed
as nptcdilv, as cheaply, as cemfortablv, as
safely. The objects ol improvement, of nov
