Mr. Williams submitted a revolution, au
thorising the Comptroller general to cancel
the bonds of the superintendent of public
works for the years 1895 end 1826; which
was agreed to, and ordered to be sot to the
house of representatives,

Mr. Grimke then handed in his protest
against the report and resolutions of the S)>e
ctol committee, of which Dr. Ramsay was
chairman, adopted by the senate at the pre
vent section, in relation to state rights; which

The house concurred with senate in the
proposal nf a joint committee to nominate
suitable persons for President and Directors
of the Qank of the State of South-Carolina,
and also in the proposal to elect, on to-mor
row, at o'clock, | state reporter and su
perintendent of public works.

The Journals of yesterday having been read,
on motion, Mr. Ham*dy wu excused from
serving ou the committee to nominate suita
ble persons for President and Directors of
the Bank of the State of South Carolina, and
Mr. Grimke nominated to the said commit
tee as chairman.
The president laid before the senate, the
certificate of the messenger ol the senate,
that he had personally served Wm. I). James
with a copy of the article*of impeachment
exhibited against him by the house of repre
sentatives, together with a copy of the order
of senate, that he be soaervco, and request
ed to notify the senate when he will be rea
dy toanawer thereto) which was, on motion,
ordered to be referred to the ?ommittee on
the rules and forms of said impeachment.
