tion, which was made the special order of

ift tulvtd. That it is expedient so to amend
the constitution ol this state, thut judge*

from the day this alteration shall be effected,
according to the forms of the constitution.
Rcfjtved, That it is expedient so to amend
the constitution of this state, that the tenure
of office of the iudgeft 111 this state, who shull
hereafter be elected, shall he for ten yeais.
The senate then resolved itself into a com
mittee of the whole, Mr. Patterson in the
chair.
The said report recommends the adop
tion of the following retortion: Nmlvrtt,
That it is expedient to amend the constitu
tion of this state, so th it the chancellors and
thu judges of law and the appeal coUrt, be
MuUlc to be removed at an> timeby a vole of
two-thirds of both hrantheaof the legist*
tun*.
Mr. Wilson offered the following, as an
amendment to the said revolution, recom
mended in the ituid reports Hnotvcd, That
any judge of the courts of law and equity in
this state, shall vacate hit commission upon
a joint address of both branches of tne legis
lature.
On motion of Mr. Miller, the ^aid report
and proposed amendment, were laid on thu
table, in order to rake up the resolutions mi b
mitted by himself this morning.
The latter resolutions were then taken up
ami considered by the committee of the
whole; and, after sometime spent in debate,
Mr. President reasMtmed the chair, the
committee roue, when Mr. Patterson, from
the committee of the whole, reported pro
gresa, and askvd leave to ait again, which
was granted^?Adjourned.
