candidate for the Vice-Presidency, in opposi

former gentleman, "hit public services ex

As we profess ourselves ignorant of any
meritorious Inwtancc of Mr. Calhoun's na
tional services, we beg of you to point out to
us, specifically, some of those that you think
are beat calculated to throw light on this en
quiry. We are not partisans of Mr. Clin
ton, nor anx loos to disturb the repose of Mr.
Calhoun, but it may be worth while to bring
toy our recollection an old proverb "the losSt

vancing rapidly in the state of Ohio.
