ing moderately nine hours a day , but soon

competition with human labor, that it com
pelled the working classes to labor ten hours

are not oidy obliged to work with double the

I was very much delighted ada?or two

rally: being an exposition of the relative sit
uation condition, and future prospects of
working people in the United States of
America. Together with a suggestion and
outlines o la plan, by which they may grad
ually and indefinitely improve their condi
tion." The author of tlti* pamphlet has
l been too modest to put hit nam* to it. 1
have looked over it generally, but quite 'suf
ficiently to ascertain its nature) and 1 find
more truth and valuable knowledge in this
little work, than in all thre writings on politi
cal economy that I hat e met with. It is
from one who probably has not been educat
ed in the lettered ranks-an uneducated man,
except bv nature and good common sense.
Those who read it, therefore, will not di
rect their attention to the mere words, but
to the object of finding certain ideas simply
and lorcibty expressed. And I strongly re
commend this little work to every producer
in America? let them read and study it, and
they will see their condition and relative
sruation in society. . .
