when it did not go there by 340 feet. I un
derstand 1) at sAying that w, Engine No 3,
had u sufficiency of lioae (but jit waa not
brought out) to have reached to the fire;
but the fire waa more than double that dis
tance. And I liave already olwervcd the
whole of cur hose was on, and we immediate
ly sent our own hose-men after *he hose be
longing to Fngine No. ], whic'.: waa brought
down directly and attached. It certainly
did seem at the time very strange that the
other Eoginea were not out; and 1 should
suppose it was the duty of the fire-masters
and not of the Company No. 3, to im
mediately have had the hose from the other
Engines brought to our Engine. I think
therefore there can be no blame whatever
attached to this company, but that it has
maintained at this fire as well as at all oth
ers, the character of
"VIGILANT." ?
