Senator Jas. 0. Padgett and Ra.
presentative Colunibus N. Langdalo
took advantage of the week-end re
cess of the legislature to spend &
few days with their families and
friends. They met quite a number
of their constituents in Walterboro
on Saturday and Mondffy and were
interestingly dit^ussing legislative’
matters. On account of the great
amount of influenza among the
members and in the families of the
members, an effort was made to
secure adjournment of the session
till, later in the year. The Senate
passed this but the House refused
to eoncair. The session* began
again early this week and will po*.
sihly rentinue till the Session ends.
A meeting of tlm delegation was
• hold Monday at which time several
of the county officers took up certain
matters iff connection with the of
fices. ... Chief among these was
Commissioner rimer who has to
submit to the delegation his recoin,
mendation for the expenses of the
county government for the year. No
definite action was taken, as M-.
Peurifo)the other member of the
delegation, was not well enough to
he at the meeting and certain infor.
mation the delegation desired was
not available.
The county supply bill will doubt
less he . introduced this week.
Aming the Items of interest in - this
bill is that providing for a continu.
ance of the home demonstration
work in the couiYy. It is under.
*to«-d that Senat"- Padgett is In
favor of making tiie same appropria
tion as last yeaf which would entitle
the county to t vo demonstrators.
Mr. I.angdale favors u smaller ap.v
propriation for only one agent. It
is not known what attitude Mr.
Peurifoy will take in this matter.
If be decide*; with Senator Padg**t
the county will stil'l have Ihe ser

Col. D. M. Peurifoy is much bet
