was in town- Thursday shaking
hands with relatives and his manv
friends. W’hlle here he dropped in
to see us and renewed his subscrip

erly lived in Walterboro, but he has
been with the Beaufort Land and
Investment Company for seventeen
years. Mr. Beach made mention of

To Woherboro Monday.
Magistrate W. N. Jones a*d his
constable, W T . D. Berry, had rather
an exciting chase on Sunday after a
negro deeerter, Willie Barnes. This
negro left and did not leave a for
warding address, so when it was dis
covered that he had gone Tnqulrv
was made and he was located at
Leland. on the Fteaboard railway,
and brought to Walterboro on Mon
day and sent to Camp Jackson for
immediate service.
