That be would have surceeded hlpi- self had he lived was generally con ceded. So well assured were Ihe pe<A»le pt the State that many pos sible candidates who would have liked to doii the Senatorial toga, were kept from entering the race. But there need be no cause for fear, as to the result. Mr. Dial is a gooo man. g^atrong and noble man. and one to whom the people of the State may well tuwi. There is no qlie*-' tioti as to hi* loyalty and true ae- : cord with the national administra tion. He does not have to stand be fore an audience as another candi date does and make an effort to prpye hi* loyalty. Mr. Ricejs not so well known but is also a loyai American. The peopi.- of this State will not support a man whose acts do no» ring true and solidly American.. The editor of The Pres* and Standard, has-been spending-n week in Southern Georgia and Northern Florida seeing at first ■ hand the re sults of the ravages of the boll weevil and the effects upon the peo ple living in his path. The evidence secured is cumulative, and establish es beyond question-, the fact that cotton cannot be grown sucresffullv under boll weevil conditions. Th farmers |n the.boM weevil territory are planting other crops and are malting as much, or more mom- than the%winild making under ?' cotton erbp system. They say the coming ofyhe boll weevil was a blessing ki disguise, and that Uifj' would not\eturn to cotton as a under unWersAl.peace. But let ug re member, in casting our ballots? that there is but one way. to accomplish these, objects—fight to a complete and glorious victory. Our heroic lads will do the shoot ing. • Let ^?very American vote bac!; up a bhllet. \ J • . * Collecting Photographs of Men Lost in Service •Through the Bureau of Naviga tion the navy, department is now collecting- photographs pf all men of fhe'service who have lost Jheir live* tn service against the enemy. To perpetuate the memery of the*- men who have made the sacrifice their pictures am to be preserved in the various training stations of the country. Secretary Daniels hps requested that th«fce photographs be sent to the department by the next kin. As rapidly as these pictures ar-» received copies are made and th» originals returned to the owners, A photograph of each man is then forwarded to. the training station where • he began his career in . the service. There, a memorial gallerv of honor or a hero’s corner is form ed so that for all time the faces of the men of the navy who have made the supreme sacrMlce may be hon ored by the youths of the future sent to the station for training. Relatives -of ..men who have been lost in the present war who have not received requests for picture^ are ask 'd to mail them to the de partment for this{-memorial. AH pictures should .be" securely wrapped after, they have been marked with the name, branch of service and training station the young man en tered ‘ after enlistment. These should bp addressed to the recruit ing division. 0 Bureau of Navigation, Nary Department, Washington, ft. C. When copied, fhe^ photographs will.be returned to the sender with one of the copies.
