poultry clubs of the county as welt
as a few box members of these
clubs are now in possession of Wal-
terboro. They were formally re
ceived as the neW managers of Wsl-
terboro this morning at the very in
teresting exercises , held « for <the
opening of the short course. *
The attendance is very fine, and
the girls are entering into the spirit
of the work with eager enthusiasm,
and wfll enjoy the many attentions
they will receive during their stay.
They are being entertained in the
homes of the pople of the town.
The exercises this morning con
sisted of devotional exercises, songs,
an address by W. W. Smoak, and
short talks J>y the visiting agents
and county agent Rlsher.

Max Jacobs, Sr., died at his horn *
here this morning following an Hl-
ness of several i months. duHn;
which time he was confined to his
bed. .The fimeral services will b»
conducted at his " late . residence

wards, presiding elder of the Char
leston district. ^ .
Mr. Jacobs was. 42 years of age.
and .had been a resident of Walter-
hPVP. for seven years. Pfior to his
com ink to Wslterboro to make hit
borne, be was agent at Y.emasoee for
the Atlantic Coast Line railroad.
He has been In the service of this
railroad since he was IS years of
age, the last position in which he
rendered most efficient service being
the agency at Green Pond. He was
one of the most trusted men in the
employ *>f this railroad.
Mr. Jacobs married Miss , Mary
Elisabeth Pate, of Adams Run, and
of this marriage the fallowing chil
dren survive: Max, Jr... DeWltt.
Norton, Wilmot and Helen. Besides
these and Mrs. Jacobs he is survived
by his mother, who resides in Tam
pa. Fla., three brothers and fire sis
ters. I
,Th4 deceased was always ready
to render any service, and was
widely known for his business
acumen, and* unfailing courtesy to
everyone. He wa* admired and re
spected by everyone, and a. wido
circle of friends realize that a good
man and a good citizen has 'passed
away. . • ,
