for the reehecklng of certain offic

delegation prepared and had passed
in the House of Representatives the
following resolution:

To require certain officers in Colle*

Whereas. The report of the cer
tified public accountant employed
by the grand jury for Colleton coun
ty. has shown certain shortages and
violations of law hi various eonnty
offices; and
Whereas. The interests of the
county and the integrity of. the men
involved, make a thorough account,
ing necessary; therefore.
Be it resolved by the General As
sembly of the State of South Caro
lina:
Section 1. That Comptroller Gen<
ersl send to Colleton -county at each
a time ae may be named by the
grand jtiry his representative, who
shall be an experienced accountant,
for the purpose of becoming a mem
ber of an Auditing Board to be
composed of said accountant from
the Comptroller General’a office,
Anditof C. L. Vann, a&d an ac
countant to- be selected by the Col
leton Delegation, whose duties shall
he carefully to recheck and audit
C. L. Vann's report as to sbortaccs
; n4 violations of law. and such oth
er matters as the^grand jury may
see fit to. submit to them, in con
nection with said report. For th»
expense of this investigation the
grand jury is authorized to submit
to the Highway Commissioner prop
er vouchers for a sum not exceeding
the sum of five hundred ' t $500.00 >
dollars, which sum the Highway
Commissioner is authorized and Di
rected to pay as other vouchers
against the connty.
I* Sec. 2. In the event that this in
vestigation reveals any actual short
ages or violations of law whereby
the county has suffered financial
loss, the Grand Jury is hereby au
thorized fo employ counsel upon
such terms as they shgll determine,
if they deem it wise > for the pur
pose of bringing action tn the »ame
of the county against the bonds of
said county official.
Sec. 3. That this Act. shall go into
effect immediately upon its ap
proval by the Governor.
