Th«* fair spirit was abroad and a large yowd fronH Hampton and the adjoining counties partici pated in the fair spirit, and helped to make the fair such a success. 4 A large building was se£ aside as an exhibit building and it was _flll- ecf with the choicest things groan in Hainpton county. There were S‘>od exhibits o| poultry, piifs. cows, colts and an abundance.of farm pro ducts, and in the woman’? building were many fine exhibits of the wo men of the county, such as canned good's.'fapey work. etc., etc. An exhibit which attracted much attention was that of fou r fine per- cheron, .in a res, which were bought recency by fajpiers in the county. They were in good shape and many favorable comments were heard as to then beauty and size. In the way of amusement?, ther.* was the usual fair midway, the sho\\s for which were furnished by Frank M IVtit, who is a relative of Mrs. Jt G. 1’ticfe, and a thoroughly good showman. . \i' admission fec*s were ehtrged I to the fair proper, but admission ?o the shows* on which a percentage ivas paid to the fair furnished *the money t.i pav tb<* prizes, jand other expenses*of the fair. An interesting and pleasant meet ing of the teacher* and trustees of fhe Walterboro High school wa# held at the school Monday nigh*. This was the occasion of the regu lar monthly meeting or the toarh- ers and trustees, at which time tha reports of the work of the school are received by tire trustees and other business mailers attended to. On this oecnsion the teachers imit- ed the trustees’ whew t 0 be present and to enjoy an evening's entertain ment. Following the legniai business session of the teacher* and tj-pstees <the audience was favored with a du^t "by l>r. and-Mr* Bailey, a read ing by Mrs. .?. M. Witsell, song l»y Miss .Chase Black, ail of which were much enjoved.
