Correctly speak-1 ing I am n managing salesman and collector for the Singer Sewffig Ma chine Company., and not n peddler,-f, and if thexsquash headed and nar row mladnosiiDdividual who found time to complain to the grand jury about me had leas, prejudice and lit tle common sense he would conclude that n salesman and collector travel ing for a well established business is not' required by law to pay county license. I am managing the Singer Sewing Machine agency for Colleton coun ty knff' sell only sewing machines and supplies for them. There are others in this county who sell-other makes of machines, stoves, organs, furniture, Bibles, pictures, lightning rods, fkutt trees, some of them com ing from other counties ami who never pay n cent of license to work. Can the intelligent grand jury tell mo why they don’t bother with them? ' i . \ I am paying nil my licenses and taxes for myself and my company, and invest every cent I can make for Improvements, also have mado a good many contributions for good roads and other purposes, and there fore, consider thq presentment of the grand jury unjustifiable and agitated by a maliciouq motive and personal reasons on the .part of the ’person who made the'complaint..
