STORAGE-HOUSE
“ ■i"
. WMhinsWa, D. C.. July 1*.—
There it no mystery about buildin?
a satisfactory .storage house for
aweet potatoes. Southern farmers
who are paying large prices for pat
ented plans and equipment alleged
to provide the only successful way
' of storing sweet potatoes, are be-
• ing .defrauded. Specialists of the
United States Department of Agri
culture whose attention • recently
has been called to instances in
which farmers have paid as high
as 9750 for sets of plans, do not
hesitate to brand such activities as
plain humbtiggery. Plans of hous**3
, that incorporate the simple prin
ciples of storage and conmon sens*'
methods of construction, and which
have proved successful by years ^>f
careful trial, are furnished free by j
the Departtpent of Agriculture to
any farmer who will ask for them.
Because reports have been mad'
and circulated in ‘the South that

of surplus moisture. Proper cur
ing of sweet potatoes means getting
rid of surplus moisture, and the'
type of house which the specialists
suggest accomplishes this by com
bining the ordinary principles ol
good ventilation ,with common
sense methods of construction.
