visiting Mends. The trip was made

Ga., had the misfortune last Tues
day to (all from a tree and break
her arm Just at the elbow. Being
a serious fracture the little girl was
taken at once to the 8t. Joseph's
sanitarium, Savannah. Mrs. Beach
came o n to Walterboro Thursday to
visit friends. She returned Tues
day afternoon accompanied by her :
sister, Mrs. Walker who will remain
with her daughter till she is well
enough to bring her home.

Competed for Friday.
The examinations for scholarships
to the State institutions were held
Friday of last week and the Friday
previous. Wlnthrop College ex
amination was held Friday, July 7
and there were 11 applicants for
the vacancies. Last Friday four
young men competed for the full
scholarship for Clemson, one for the
one-year scholarship and three for
the scholarship at the S. C. Uni
versity.
