A meeting of the county (hairmen
of the First Congressional District
was held last -week at the Charles
ton Hotel in Charleston for the pur
pose of arranging dates for the cam
paign speakings to be held Over the
district. It was decided to open the
campaign at Walterboro on Monday.
August 7, and close at St. George
to Raise Money Needed/ August 11.-
There are only two candidates for
Congressman from the First district.
Col. ,Tas. G. Padgett, of Waltetboro,
and the encumbent, Hon. R. Wha
ley, of Charleston. The race bids
fair to he an interesting one. and

at the Court House, lor the purpose
of arranging the details for the eam.-
paign to be waged in this county for
county offices. The meeting was
called to order at 11 o’clock by
Chairman M. P. Howell, and E. L.
Fishburne, Esq., was elected secre
tary pro. tem. In the absence of Sec
retary Jefferies.

disfranchised. The enrollinint books will remain open only until

citizen tb go in person and enroll on this year’s club list; Enroll
ment for 1914 will not count; it is necessary that every Demo
crat enroll again.
It- is not necessary to have a registration certificate or tax
receipt.
