ASSESSMENTS HIGH X A meeting of the county (hairmen of the First Congressional District was held last -week at the Charles ton Hotel in Charleston for the pur pose of arranging dates for the cam paign speakings to be held Over the district. It was decided to open the campaign at Walterboro on Monday. August 7, and close at St. George to Raise Money Needed/ August 11.- There are only two candidates for Congressman from the First district. Col. ,Tas. G. Padgett, of Waltetboro, and the encumbent, Hon. R. Wha ley, of Charleston.
