Ab e S. Karesh went to Charleston Monday afternoon, where he was married on Tuesday afternoon to Miss Minnie Loeb. He was accom panied by his brother ahd family of Ehrhardt, Mr. and Mrs. H. Karesh. Ben Lieber, who is Mr. Karesh's as sistant went down yesterday to b«> present at the wedding. C.. July 2, 1>1«. The Wesley Adult Bible Class met on the lawn *t the Methodist church yesterday afternoon at 5:15 o’clock, with a large attendance. Four new names were added jo the roll, and the offering amounted to five dollars, a part of which is to be used for the support of an orphan at Epworth Orphanage. An enthusiastic contest U now be ing waged between the local class and the Wesley Adult Class of Cot- tageville, the contest to run until Sept. 1st. In the conduct of this contest each new member counts as ten points; each studied lesson as five points, and each cent in the of fering counts one-half point. Re- Get The Habtt and Buy Your Goods member, first, then, to come and ipin .the class: second, to study the les second, to study the les son. and third, to bring an offering. According to the last report Cottage- ville stood ahead of WTalterborO by 114 points, and we will have to speed ’em up to catch the hustling little town of Cottageville when it comes to a Sunday school contest. H. Stokes, was well attended. The meeting was conducted by Re*. (’. B. Smith, and short talks made by Dr. Black and Miss Ida May Fish- burne. On Wednesday evening of this week the prayer meeting will be held at the home of E. E. Jones, and. on July 12 at the home of Dr. Black at o’clock. CANNING ( LIB MEETING Smoaks. July 5.—The Smoaks Canning club held its first canning demonstration on Friday of la«t Nveek on the graded school grounds. Tomatoes, beans, okra, soup mix tures, peas, peaches and apples were -tanned. All the members were present except two. and there were several parents of the girls and also several interested friends, who spent all or a part of the day and helped in the work. . Each girl took lunch along with her. which was served in a picnic style, and which was enjoyed very much.
