Concerning Miss PadgeU, the fol
lowing Is taken from a^letter from
John Townsend Sinnette of the Con
servatory to Mrs. Padgett; "The
work done by ypor daughter. Miss
Isabelle#in piano merits especial re
mark on my part, more than simply
signing a diploma. I have been
teaching a long time and have had
many talented and brilliant pupils,
but f can say without exaggeration
that she had made more rapid and
satisfactory progress than any other
pupil in a like time. She has been
studying with me but three years,
but everywhere I hear pralsg of her
recital. She played again last Fri
day at n special recital and again she
was declared, by many who discrim
inate. as the most interesting artist
heard for a long time. She is in
truth an artist, for her playing is
lacking in neither finish, or expres
sion.”
Miss Padgett wa? elected by the
faculty an honorary member of a
musical society which later became
national In scope, and was then elect
ed by this sorority to play the only
piano selection that •was to be ren
dered at commencement.
