The meeting'of the Charleston
District Sunday School Conference
was one of great Interest to the peo
ple of the diatrict.'and it it indeed
a great pity that many more of them
could not have been present to at
tend these sessions, and receive some
of the inspiration the meeting en
gendered..^. Eulogizing the Sunday
school aa the most vital force in the
church today, and ns a factor in di
recting the policy of the church,
much was said by the ministers an 1
laymen present of the worth of this
institution, and methods of enlarg
ing the scope for usefulness of this
field of endeavor, were freely and
ably discussed. Much good will come
from this meeting and from others
Of its kind.

J. C. Brown died at the home of
his son t! C. Rrown. in Walterbori
today following an illness of several
months. Mr. Brown was In his 70th
year, and had been a resident of
Walfe^ioro for several years, making
his home here with his son. O. iS
Brown. He was a native of Alabama
and had lived Jor many years in
Texas, going from there to North
Carolina. He was a man of strong
character and a good'citizen. The
deceased was a member of the Meth
odist church.

H. Brown, of Dallas. Texas; Mrs. H.

Mrs. Annie M. Weokley, widow of
the late L. C. Week ley. died at her

office twor years ago, and. while I
was not elected, yet 1 feel that I

that I am in earnest and that I am

and reared in this county, and ex
pect to live and work here for the
upbuilding of the county and the bet

Whereas application has been
made to the county board of educa
tion for Colleton county to order an
ejection in Tabor school dis
trict No. 52, on the question of vot
ing ap additional tax levy of 4 mills
in said district and a petition pre
sented signed by one-third of th«
qualified electors and resident free
holders of the age of twenty-one in
said district, praying said election
be ordered.
It is ordered under section 1206
of the Code of Civil\ Laws. 1912.
that an election be held Saturday.
June 17,' 1916. at Tabor school
building in said district, that only
those persons who return real or
personal property for taxation, and
present registration certificate as re
quired in Peneral elections be allow-'
ed to vote at said election. Each
elector favoring the Additional Tax
shall cast a ballot containing the
words "For Additional Tax” printed
or written Giereon and each elector i
opposed to said Additional Tax shall j
vote a ballot containing the words |
"Against Additional Tax” printed or
written thereon.
Foils will be open at 8 o’clock a.
m. and closed at 4 o'clock p. m.
J. E. Hudson. C. B. Crosby and
W. W. Martin, trustees of said
district are appointed managers to
conduct said election.
Tf the majority of the votes cast
in said school district shall be "For
Additional Tax” and not “Against
Additional Tax” the additional tax
shall be levied..
Within ten days after the election
the above named managers shall re
port to the County Board of Educa
tion the result of the election, and
shall file with their report the poll
list, the ballot box and all papers
appertaining thereto.
