The fourth meeting of the South- ern Carolina AMOciatlon will be held at Hampton. 8. C., on Thursday, the 15th of June, under the auspices of the Hampton Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce Is putting forth* It* best efforta to make this a day of real enjoyment, a* well *• an occasion of great benefit to the asso ciation. The following gentlemen, whose official capacities are known td all of us, have been Invited to at tend and address the association: The Honorable E. J. Watson, the Hhnorable W. W. Long and the Hon orable Reid Whltford. It has been suggested that these speakers select their owp subjects; but the hop«» Is entertained that they will have sug gestions to make with reference to the necessity and cost of drainage and good roads for that portion of Carolina comprised within the South ern Carolina Association. Mr. Whit- ford, especially, is expected to speak on good roads and to stress, prin cipally, the cost of building them. The public is cordially invited to attend the meeting; and the business men of the several counties repre sented in the Association are espec- ally requesfbd to be present as the speakers of the occasion will come prepared to give much valuable in- foi^nation looking to the general de velopment of this section. Representatives from the Charles ton News and Courier, the Colum bia State, the Augusta Chronicle and the Savannah Morning News have been invited to attend and give the oocasion a* much publicity as pos sible. Whereas application has been made to the county board of edued- tion for Colleton county to order an election in Little Swamp school dis trict No. 7. on the question of vot ing an additional tax levy of 3 mills in said district and a petition pre sented signed by one-third of the qualified electors and resident free holders of the age of twenty-one in said district, praying said election be ordered. It Is ordered under section 1206 of the Code of Civil Laws, 1912,. that an election be held Saturday. June 17, 11*16. at Berea school building in said district, that only* those persons who return real or personal property for taxation, and present registration Certificate as re quired In general elections be allow ed to vote at said election. Each elector favoring the Additional Tax shall cast a ballot containing the words "For Additional Tax” printed "r written thereon and each elector opposed to said Additional Tax shall vote a ballot containing the words "Against Additional Tax” printed or written thereon. Polls will be opfn at 8 o’clock a. m. and closed at 4 o'clock p. m. E. W. Strickland. B. B. Goodwin, and H. 8. Padgett, trustees of said district are appointed managers toj conduct said election. If the majority of the votes cast in said school district shall be "For Additional Tax” and not "Against Additional Tax” the additional tax shall be levied. Within ten days after the election the above named managers shall re port to the County Board of Educa tion the result of the election, and shall file with their repori the poll list, the ballot box and all papers appertaining thereto.
