As a result of a shooting scrape
which took place at Ivanhoc Monday
during the progress of a negro pic

and Ben Bennett, of Cainhoy. He
mortally wounded at Ritter. The
picnic grounds at Ivanhoe were
chartered for ihe day by a commit

that they raised a ’ rough house”

The report of the affair by the
eye witnesses was that Moultrie and
Bennett got into 9 dispute, amt that
Moultrie turned his hack. Bennett
pulled his pistol, a 25-calihre Colt
automatic, and began to pump bul
lets into the hack Of Moultrie, at
least two of them passing entirely
through hi? body. After emptying
hh* pistol Bennett turned to run.
Moultrie steadied himpelf and open

Magistrate Towles and Deputy
SUuriff I*adg*tt were summoned, but
upon advice of Dr. L M. Stoke*, who
attended the negro non, they were
