him leave Colleton, and we earnestly
pray that God’s richest blessings
may rest upon him and- his family
in their new home, or wherever they
may go. and may God’s guiding spir
it direct Brother Lawson in his
untiring efforts to spread the gospel.

Cowards. May 8.—One of the most
pb-asant social affairs of the week
was the linen shower given Tuesday
by Mrs. E. L. Montgomery in honor
of her house guest. Miss Myrtle Crit.
eher. Miss Critcher is a general fa
vorite in Cowards, having formerly
had charge of the primary depart
ment of the graded school here, and
there*’was a hearty response to the
cordial invitations of the hostess. The
living and dining rooms of Mrs.
Montgomery’s home were made at
tractive by the use of roses, sweet
peas, verbena and honeysuckle, car
rying out the color scheme of pink
and white. When the guests had as
sembled a berry contest was entered
into this contest being appropriate
as Miss Critcher was married on
Thursday, May 4. to J. O. Berry of
Smoaks. Miss Cornelia Petty, of
Virginia won the prize, an emery.
The booby fell to Miss Emma Crtt-
eher. of Lynchburg. After tjie game
the guests were invited into the din
ing room. As each entered they
were given a ribbon streamer, which
was attached to a large wedding
bell decorated ‘in pink and white.
After the guest of honor had taken
her seat under the bell all the rib
bons were released and the bride
showered with beautiful gifts and
-rtrer- Musical selections were render
ed during the afternoon by Misses
Olive Montgomery of Kingstree,
Cornelia Petty of Virginia, and Em
ma Critcher of Lynchburg. The re
freshments consisted of brick cream
and cake, in the chosen cblors. pink
and white. The souvenirs of favors
of the occasion .were tiny pink bags
filled with rice, attached to little
cupids. ^*
