1 \ . y / \ t PAGE SIX l . THE PRESS AND STANDARD • o' Wednesday, April 19, 1916. Mi VOTE FOR '.l r\ v FOR AYOR «* * ’ ' • ' v ■ ' t ‘ " . ■ K *_ AND Ar PROGRESSIVE WALTERBORO ONE VOTERS REASON FOR SUPPORTING W. W. SMOAK TOR MAYOR. I expect to vote for W. W. Smoak for mayor, because I believe him to be perfectly honest, unusually well equip ped to properly fill the office, abounding in energy and possessed of more pure public spirit and willingness to sacrifice self for the common good than any man in Wal terboro. Everybody must admit / that Smoak spends much of his time, energy and money in inaugurating and pushing forward unselfish plans for the uplifting and bet terment of the town. He is peculiarly interested and es pecially fitted for public service, and he is “on the job all the tim,e. He is making a personal sacrifice to oc cupy tlie mayor’s office and I do not think that the peo ple should rebqke and discourage such public spirit as Smoak possesses by defeating him at the polls.—From letter of Hon. M. P. Howell..published in The Press and Standard. . • . . THE WAY HIS CANDIDACY. IS VIEWED AWAY FROM HOME. W. W.
