Two games were played, the first resulting In a tie, and the second game gping to the Cottage- ' viUe girls to the tune of 12 to 2. Mr. Croaby was until quite recently « student at the Carlisle' Fitting school, bat bps been obliged to leave school before the end of the ses- l»ion. ’He intends, however, to re turn'next year - and complete- his course. ML Crosby was one of the leading students at the. school and stood well with the faculty and with the students. he was taken hack to the sanitarium for a very serious operation. He was placed on the operating- table last Sunday afternoon and succum bed during the operation. The child’s physical strength had been so reduced during his long illness that he was not able to undergo so serious ah operation, yef hie physi cian knew that while his chanres for life were very slim under the opera tion. yet It was the only hope for life. ' “ „ Little Carb was the only son in family ’of five children, and hence his father’s and mother's heart were fondly centered in him. He was a bright boy and gave promise of a splendid futqre. He always recipro cated the love of his father and mother. He thought that there were no persons in the' world so grand and noble as his parent*. He. was also a favorite with ail who k^ew him well.' Carl was a .faithful niem- ber of the primary department Of the Cottageville g.upday school and was 1 marked by his •'teacher for his apt answers and hjs readiness to re spond. His teachers were very fond of him and will miss him greatly and ever cherish hls memory’. Carl was a grandson of the late (tapMlin Benjamin G. Willis, whtf was well known throughout * the county for hls. large and open hospi tality and for his courteous man ners. • Captain Ben. Willis was a true typr» of the x Southern gentleman, so that little Carl had In his veins the best blood ‘ of Southern man hood. The Jury found that the negro died result of eating honey from a gum, assuming that it was poisoned. .
