Program for Meeting to Be Held

The long desired organization of

county teachers association was per
fected at a meeting .held ‘ at the
Court House Saturday, and
the fact that the weather was ipclem-
nt and very cold, there was a good
ly number of the teachers .of the

of the local Methodist church, after
which County Superintendent of Ed
ucation Strickland made a talk to
the teachers, and expressed his belief
in the efficiency-of, an organization
to improve the schools of the coun

pect to loke many subscribers by this small raise in the
price of the paper, and we trust that our readers will
understand that it is made purely from necessity. The
price of everything going to make a newspaper has gone
up, as has everything else which we have to hatfe, and
it is this increased cost of production which makes it
essential to increase the price of the paper to the read
er to make up in a small way the increased cost of pro
duction. The Press and Standard is one of the few pa-
. pers not having already raised the price. The Beaufort
Gazette gets $1.50 per year, so does the Bamberg Herald,
and there is hardly a newspaper of “any standing any
where that is published at less than $1.50 per year, in fact
many weekly papers are getting $2.00 a year. -
We trust that as many subscribers jis desire to do
so will renew their subscriptions before the first of Feb
