Cofleton County’s Schools
KDITORIAL
That Colleton County should have
a rural school supervisor goes with
out aaying. There is no .argument
against the employment of one, ex
cept that of funds to pay the salar/.
nd we seriously question whether
this should, be allowed to prevent.
Of. course there i 8 need for all the
funds to pay the county’s running
expenses and to build roads, tun the
•-.mall amount necessary to employ
a supervisor for the schools of the
county, would not seriously handi
cap the work on the roads. Any
way the good whleh would result
from the’ active work of s trained
supervisor would far outweigh the
.•results fronathe expenditure of $600
’ .the funds of the county In almost
any other direction.
The delegation has agreed to ap
propriate MOO of the county funds
for a girls' canning club demon-
stra, and this is well. Can not an
other MOO b? appropriated for this
other most important work? Other
counties are doing this, and it pay.*.
Why not Colleton? Hampton Coun
ty has a live rural school* supervis
or;* and she Ms doing wonders in that
county. The interest in schools and
school work is great and results of
her work are being seen everywhere.
There is a resultant co operation
among the schools, the patrons and
teachers, which is inspiring to se*.
This supervisor is Miss Belva Saun
ders. sister of Dr. Klenera B. Saun
ders, of Cohinib|a, and she is active
in her work. Her’latest venMire iii,
