has been victorious in every
combat of. the season. As usual
everyone la looking forward with
maeh eagerness to the gneat- dash
between the Clemson ahd Carolina
teams on the 28th o fthis omtnh at
-the State fair grounds, it is needless
to say that, Carolina men are ex
pecting to float their bahnerii of
rictory after this game.
Several receptions have been giver,
recently in honor of :ne young worn-
eh of thd different colleges he-e. and
the young men of the Universit".
These occasions furnish mu^h plea -
ure for the young folks, ami. in
come instances afrore* .ciiafuon of
laying plans for the future. 'Among
the receptions given might b«' men
tioned the ones given at Colum »?a
College at the Cniversity and the
Presbyterian Sunday school hall.
On these occasions the daughters
and sons of Colleton ere usually
very much in evidence. Ther* are _

young ladies from Walterboro: Miss
Chase Mack, and Miss Florence An

DeTreville' of Walterboro. Mr.

The news of Mr. Sidric- j. rotten's
tragic death in Charleston last Frr-
tlay was received here with profound
regret. He is rc memberecl here by j
many of the upper clas; men. having
