age 13 years. Seemingly in the
host of health np to the last hoar,
which was a sodden warning of
short notice. It came as a terrible
shock to his family, as well< as the
community.
He leaves a wife, six daughters
and two sons to mourn' his loss. Be
sides two sisters. Mr. Hill, of Cot-
tagerllle; Mrs. Reeves.. Oivhans; 3
brothers. W. R. Pox. Adams Run:
Perry Fox. Walterboro': and Mike
Fox. Ravfnet. Besides a terse fam
ily. he leaves a host of friends, who
still lore him. for his sincerity and
faithfulness in this life towards hi*
feilowmen. -

Mrs. Crosby was a daughter of A.
P. Hiott, and wa* married ta Mr.
Crosby in 1910. One child, a lit
tle boy three yean old, survives.
She waw in her 26th year and was

charanen She was a consistent
member of the Methodist church, a
good wife and mother. The sympa

Mendell Strickland.
The home of Mr. and Mrs James
F. Strickland was saddened \ ith a
cloud of sorrow, when, on June 10
their little son. David Mende!!.
passed away to be with our Savior.
Little Mendell was born March 13th
1914. being about one year’ and
three months old. ?
He first had pneumonia and then
measles. Alf Was done for him
that loving and ^willing hands could
do. But "God’s will must be done.*’
He has lefr a heart-broken mother
and father, four slaters, and two
brothers.
It is indeed strsnge to us. why
God In his Infinite wisdom should
see fit to remove from our midst
one of these little ones, but we
should neyer question God’s will,
for we must remember that Jesus
said. "Suffer the little children to
come unto me. for of such Is the
Kingdom of Heaven.” What a
sweet thought to know that Men-
dell is resting safe in the arms of
Jesus. V-
Llttle Mendell was a very bright
little boy for his age. and we know
it U very hard for his parents*, to
give him up. Rut one consoling
thought for them is that they can
live such lives that will enable
them to meet him in the great be
yond. /

Mrs. Isham. Dopson. one of . the
oldest and most highly respected
women of the Islandtou section die)
at tjie county jail here Sunday, fol
lowing an illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Dopson had the misfortune to
fall a few weeks ago and was injur
ed In the fall. She partially recov
ered dhd again fell. After tftg !«W*
ond fall she was brought to K-t
grand-daughter’s home. Mrs. Lucas
Berry, who had rooms at tne t'oun-
ty jail. In order that she might re
ceive medical attention, and be with
her ’daughter. Here she lingered
and gradually grew weaker till the
end came Sunday afternoon.
The funeral services were read at
Pine Grove church #y G. F. Cope
land and Interment took place at
the cemetery there Monday after
noon at 3 o’clock.
Mrs. Dopson was 74 years of
age, and is survived by her hus
band. and one sistt 1 *. Mrs. Simple
Hudson, of Elko, who was a daugh
ter of the late Jacob Getslnger. and
a sister of Rev, Joe Getslnger. who
died a few years ago at Spartanburg.
She was married 51 years ago to
Mr. Dopson. and they have been
boon companions every since. His
will he a lonely pilgrimage from
now on, being himself well advanc
ed In years and Juite feeble. She
was a good woman, and was loved
by all who knew her. Quiet and
unobtrualve. she was firm In her
convictions and had the respect of
all who came In contact with her. /
