slight physique. The long sustained

beautifully done by Miss Smith. The

good crowd In attendance and almost
delightful evening waa spent. The
parlors and corridors were very pret
ty ly decorateed in Japanese style
with pink, pe&ch blossoms, and green

An unaaualty artistic program
waa presented by the members of
the faculty of the departments of
muaic on Monday oxenlng. After
having beard each of these mutidans
in the faculty recital in the fall, An
derson people knew what to expect
at this second public appearance of
the group. The comment that has
been ohenest heard was of the ex
quisite musical taste In the choice
and arrangement of the program
and the artistic rendition of each
number.
Miss Stranathan opened the pro
gram with a Mozart Aria from the
marriage of Figaro, singing it id
Italian. The beautiful melody of
this selection, with all Its light and
shades as Interpreted l»y Miss Stra
nathan stirred the hearta of those
who heard irrespective of the Ital
ian words which some affect to be
lieve distract from *th^ enjoyment ol
the song. The three German songs
show Miss Stranatban's keen appre
ciation of great music. The last
number gave a delightful variety to
her selections. The Dreamy flleap
with Its qaiet, longing was fallowed
by Ah, Lave, Bat a Day! MMa was
perhaps the biggest number an the
program. In this music sse feels
that Mm. Beach has been able to ex-
press the thought of the words more-
adequately, than others who have
made the attempt. Mlse Stranathan
gava a vary sincere interpretation of
the po?* of the song. The third of
the gttQup was. Leoncavallo Mattlnate
a vary br|lUaat number aung In bril
liant, style, with delightful purity of
tone,, - Particularly noticeable was
Mias Stranathan's clear enunciation,
and nice pronunciation. In what
ever she siqga, English, French, Qer-

in his part of the program. He is

good taste and judgment. His first
number consisted of three Chopin
Preludes followed by the Etud£ that
is commonly known as the Revolu
tionary Etud". Very few selection-*

ly keen appreciation and fine musi
cal feeling. La Campanella by List
waa a beautiful climax to the pro
gram. ' This was f^yed as only
a true artist can play It. Hla style
was exquisfta, and the effect of the
number waa very impreeslve. He
played it with a fluency and artistry
that were very unusual.
The accompaniments were played
by Ifre. F. A. Goode. While lire.
Goode did not appear on the pro
gram as a socialist, she is a graceful*
brilliant soloist, as well as a delight
ful accompanist, as will be remem
bered by those who heard hSr In the
former recital. Ag before, she play
ed a pleasing accompaniment, very
sympathetic and skillful. It la a
true accomplishment to .play such
difficult accompaniments well, and
Mra. Ooode'g accompanying waa ad
mirable. ’
