Chaylotte and the East, and from
Howell tg Austell 15 miles, on the
bne to ‘ Chattanooga and Birming
ham. ' This completes ^he installa
tion of automatic signals on the
double track lines In the vicinity of
Atlanta, such signals being already,'
in service between Atlanta and
Roseland on 'tfie line to Macon and
Florida. Between Atlanta and
Gainsvjlle 73 signal- towers have*
been erected at Intervals of approx
imately two miles. Between Howell
and Austell 23 signal towers have
been erected.
The signals are of the three posi
tion type, showing the indication in
the upper quadrant. A train im
mediately in advance of a signal or
n the first block will cause It to In
dicate DANGER or STOP and at
ight will show a fed light. A train
in the second bfock ahead will be
Indicated by the signal standing in
the CAUTION position "and showing
a green light at night. If the track
< clear of- all trains for at least a
distance of four miles or two blocks

In addition to indicating the pres
ence of a train in either the first or
record blocks, the signal will also
