The public using the Wnlterboro
warehouses are urged to bear !i»
mind that cotton Is received only
days In the week. Monday. Tuesday
and Wednesday, and all are asked
to get It to the warehouse not later
than 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
This la a very imortant rule and
while cotton Van received every dav
last week, hereafter cotton will be
received dirty the first three days of
the week. W. H. Padgett has been
selected warehouseman at Waiter-
boro, and he can be found either at
the warehouse at the mill or at his
bottHh^ worka near the oil mill.
Storage charges for the cotton is
only 2S cents per bgle per month
and this covers insurance. There Is
no warehouse offering lower rates
tbaa these and everybddy Is urged
to stor« cotton In the county. Re-
ecite are issued for the cotton and
those can be used as collateral re-
ciftty on notes, etc. The Company
also operates warehouses at Ritter,
Xssslle snd Ashton.

Prominent Man of Henderson*
viiie Loses Life by Being
Caught in Saws.
Mr. Prank Guess of 'Henderson-
vlfle was kllletT^kt his cotton gin
last Friday, being caught in the sav*
In an attempt to pick the line out
with n lead pencil. He was horri
bly mangled, but hopes were enter
tained for his life, so he was carried
to Charleston where an operation
was performed, but'be died about
twenty minutes after the operation.
Mr. Guess was a progressive far
mer. about 33 years of age, living
at Hendersonville, and ran a ginnery
at White Hall. He was the son of
Mr. Peter Guess of Hendersonville.
The funeral services were con
ducted Saturday by Rev. W. A. Kir
by' and the remains were interred
at Stokes cemetery near Henderson-
vllel. All stores In the community
were closed as a tribute of respect.
Mr. dues* leaves to mourn his
death, his wife and one child, a sis
ter, Mrs. Annie Pyos, his mother,
^nd three brothers, Marvin Guess of
Yemassee, Cauthen and Hugh /Tuoss
of Hendersonville.

The Woman’s Missionary Untou
Auxiliary *o the Colleton Baptist
Association met with the Pine Grove
church on Friday and Saturday, Oc
tober 2 and 3. On account of bad
weather, the delegations were small
and the reports few.
The suggested program was car
ried out so far as possible. Mrs. J.
D. Chapman, tbe state superinten
dent of the W. M. U.. was a great
help to the meeting, and It was a
treat to her her discuss the vari
ous subjects as they came up. With
her suggestions and with Miss Geor
gia Ackerman as Superintendent,
we hope for better things next
year. We are also hoping to have
Mrs. John O. Gough, Field Worker,
visit us.
The Association Policy was adopt
ed anil for the benefit of those not
present it will be read at the next
ijuarterly meeting, which will he
held with the Wnlterboro church,
the date to be announced later. .
