Varu of Snider’s section created no little excitement last Saturday afternoon by appearing at the Press and Standard office with a bottle said to contain a “cabbage snake.” It was a long yellowish worm, about the size of a hor^e hair ami 'crawled snake-like .over the particle of cabbage .leaf 1 - in the bot tle. Mr. O. M. Anderson, in charge of the Coast Insect laboratory, w a * consulted on the subject and be has given us the folblwing article which Is given out by the Division of En tomology of Clemson Cbijege which will be of Interest^ and’value to those who feaf this cabbage snake. “This da/W slende>, yellowish or whitish .Worm, several inches' long, and not thi< ker than, the average sewing - needle. It is sometimes found 4n cabbage heads. They are not snakes but round worms. , They- belong to the group known as horse-hair snakes, though nothing alive ever developed from a horse hair. •'These so-called 'cabbage snqkes' are parasites of insects. When es caping from grasshoppers, or crick ets, qiF cabbage.
