He stated that the Co lumbia State and other South Caro lina newspapers refused to publish the telegrams in question. In the message is also an affida vit by Harrison Ferguson to the effect that Governor Blease had not seen,, nor did he know, the contents of Senator Tillman’s letter. Further matter contained in the message on the opinions of Solici tor Wade Hampton Cobb and Uni ted States District Attorney Ernest F. Cochran, on the law undef which the Governor might seek relief for the alleged misrepresentation of li bel. “The Blood of that Man.” The message concludes with the “Gentlemen, I call upon you now, in the light of these facts which I have presented, and proof of which is in my office, subject to your in spection. to take action—and speedy action—to apply the remedy, and apply it in the Interests of the cltl- .<r.j of the State and the good name of South Carolina.
