The couhty board of education has
decided to grant the prayer of the
petitioner* and have cut off the dis
trict as requested. The district will
be known as Hudson hiiil School Dis
trict No. 16 this being the number
formerly held by Adams Run school
district before that portion of the
county was cut off Into Cnarleston
county, J. D. Hudson. H. A. Cros

pointed as trustees.

Varntdoe wan shot and killed Satur
day. when a gun ua. accidentally
discharged, a* her husband waa
climbing into the wagon in which
she wa* seated. Frightened at the
noise made by the discharge of the
weapon, the mule hitched to the ve
hicle ran away and a child riding In
it waa thrown out and Buffered a
broken arm.
The accident* occurred about eight
mile* east of thin town. Stephen
Varnadoe and hi* wife, accompanied
l>y twe children of a neighbor, were
riding In a wagon drawn by one mule
The husband left the wagon to shoot
some bird* by the roadside, and aa
he re-entered the conveyance
the gun wrh accidentally discharged
Mhe contents taking erfect in th#
"body of Mrs. Varnadoe who died a
few minute* later. One of the chil
dren wa* thrown out wnen the mule
bolted.
