Card From J. M. PioIgvW.
To The Voters of Colleton County:
W have Just passed through a
pleasant campaign in which l was
a candidate’ for Sheriff. The re
turns that have come in so
far —this being the day after elec-
tion—eMow that I received a very
gratifying vote and that I came
very near being in the second race.
WlMle I am disappointed, of course,
that I fell short of being In that
race. I feel deeply grateful to every |
one who voted for me, to those who
wished me well, and to thoee who
would have voted for me buf for
other and stronger ties binding the’i;
I realise that I was greatly handi
capped by announcing my candidacy
and entering the race at such ft
late day after the line* had
been drawn and many of my friend
had pledged their support elsewhere.
I feel ths* had I entered earlier,
the result* might have been dif
fered I am going to take time by
my friends that, God willing. I will
the forelock now end announce to
be In ike race four yercs hence. I
will appreciate their remembering
.this fket. and I will be deeply grate*
' ful* to them if they will kelp me to
so advance my Interest that l will
be successful
During the past campaign I
was very green at politic*, bdt
the other candidates for this of
fice were kind, congenial cod con
siderate ar*l 1 f&red well. We
fought a clean figh». f have no
accusations to make, nor are
apologies t>oce**ray. I am con
scious of .no bitternefs towards any
of them or their friends.
' The race has been a pleasure to
me the whole way around. I thank
the people of Colleton county for
fhe uniform kindneos I received
at their hands.
