story as to who will be the next
auditor for Colleton county, to taka
the place of the lat® R. R. Black,
whose term of office was so short.
None of the particulars as to this
choice of an auditor ia just now '
available. Mr. Smith whpn at homo

not to accept the appointment If

in the county. He was for many -
years In the treasurer's office either

R. Smith, or as treasurer himself.
During this time he became fa
miliar with the system of bookkeep
ing employed in the auditor's office.
